Well it has been a while hasn't it, would you look at the rain!! Where has summer gone? Did I miss it? I've been up to my neck in all manner of things, the very least of all cakes... but let's gloss over that for the time being. I've been working hard at new vegan recipes and learning all about the pesky E. numbers that drive children quite literally up the wall and are not always what they seem for the non meat eaters amongst us. If you have a look on my gallery somewhere I put up a picture of a lovely little Yorkie cake that was vegan; quite proud of that!
This weekend I embarked on a venture with a stall at Wolverhampton's Vintage Fair, held in Codsall. \yep that's me up there in the photo throwing my son around. Those who know me know how much I adore all things vintage/antique or even just retro... and the fair was absolutely brilliant. I had so much fun and came away with a lovely set of dessert forks. On the cake front, I did two menus, the Garden Party Menu and the Dinner Date menu. A certain little experiment of mine on there was the 'Brunch' cupcake, which had bacon and peanuts in the recipe. Let me tell you, for all the people that queried them, they all sold out. I do now feel they shall be a staple on my list of things to sell, they are soooo more-ish.
On other matters I feel I have travelled the length and breadth of the country with my husband for different Horror/Sci Fi events, and it has been so much fun. We have met some fantastic, (if not a little strange) minds and enjoyed every minute. Also, not only will Adam be attending as usual for guest appearances and signings, I too will be running a Crowded Quarantine stand in some traders' rooms, with a view to showcasing some of the amazing talent we have with our authors' titles too... so if you fancy a good read and a nice bit of cake, you have come to the right woman. Will keep you all posted. It has been manic though, I'm a very busy lady ;)
Anyway, must dash; brief I know, however I have the most mind-blowing wedding cake to wow a very lovely bride with, so it's on with the show! To a little bit of big band music, my head is stuck in the clouds after being completely mesmerised by the wonderful String of Pearls who performed at the fair. Do check them out on YouTube and FaceBook, if you are a fan of the era, these lovely people will blow your mind. Back soon folks x
