Fingers crossed we get a few more eggs before Christmas; I have cakes to make and I was hoping to pickle a few eggs as gifts – but we will see. Anyhow, my day today has mainly been spent in the kitchen. I’ve made a huge franzipan mincepie crumble…which I’ve made before, however this time the topping seems to have spread into one – oh well, it will still be delicious. Phoenix and I made some little mince pies for his Daddy afterwards; he’s getting very good at it now, other than being a little rolling pin happy – likes to use it as a truncheon.
It’s been quite a productive day, although I am running out of space to dry washing, and the landing is a minefield of dirty clothes – darn this weather; I miss line drying. Wow has my first blog after months actually been about household chores and chickens… it really has. On a different note, I’m watching Bear Grylls cook a tarantula over a camp fire. What a man. I am getting big into this prepping business though, despite my love of all things girly and glamorous
and my desire to always have gorgeous hair and nails – I am a biker, I can rough it, and it always pays to be prepared. I’ve learnt this week how to open a tin can without a knife or opener and how to make your own camping stove out of a coke can. One of my prepping friends, on an unrelated subject, has also challenged me to make a good ole fashioned sweet potato pie – easy, challenged accepted, consider it done; think he just wanted a free dinner to be fair. But I’ll be making it soon. Gotta keep him happy. He’s in charge of game traps in the apocalypse– he’s our hunter and trapper.
